Set an Intention and Shift your World

As I left Ojai on May 11th, 2017 - the last place I stayed where I had a community of people supporting me, to go on and venture into unknown territory as a traveler; these words came to me:

"You will never be ready and...
You will always be ready!"

Which basically means that when you get called to take the Great Journey.... there will be many thoughts that say to you, you need more courage, more resources, more time to prepare.  The truth is the calling only comes when you are truly ready.  The purpose of The Great Journey is to get out of your head thoughts and start living completely on soul intuition and higher wisdom.

All I did... was start with an intention to shift human consciousness by SPREADING... LIGHT, LOVE, JOY & PEACE.  Other than that I have no plan.  When I first started fear came in about not having a plan - but that is only the mind that tries to create a sense of control to feel safe.  When you can be at peace in the unknown you will be at peace with every thing.

I do not know what or who I will meet each day that will give me the opportunity to fulfill my purpose.  I do know that I set an intention and without attachment to how that will look I will be guided appropriately.

Why is letting go so important - because it is freedom.  And when I ask people what they most want the responses I hear are "happiness & freedom."  Both of these are self created - and no thing or person can give you this.  You could say with a lot of money I have freedom to do what I want.  Yes this is true... only if you have not let money enslave you.

The Great Journey does not have to be a full ending of your current life situation.  I began months ago by taking a 'spiritual pilgrimage' one day a week.  I would take a day where I was not working and I let myself be guided without too much planning.  Then I started doing 2 days in a row until finally I was ready to go on full time spiritual pilgrimage.

My life journey will look very much different from yours.  You have to lead the life your soul came here to live. I encourage you to eventually go on full time spiritual journeying.  You can still have a regular job and life - you simply shift your intention allowing the people and situations you are presented with to have a deep meaning for your soul evolution.

Several years ago I hiked out into the Matilija Canyon forest with a tent and spent the night.  To some this may be looked at as overnight camping experience - however I had intended it as a 'Vision Quest' which was a completely different experience.  My totem animal at the time BEAR came to me twice in my dreams - Bear is protector.  He was giving me the courage back then to be doing what I am doing today.  And I feel incredibly protected.

Now how I start each day is with my white board writing: Today's Intention:
The words I write may be: peace, deep healing, love, connections, grounding, etc. and than that is what comes to me in ways I would not expect.  When you have no expectations or attachment to outcome - YOU ARE FREE.  And life is AMAZING.

The great thing about the white board is the concept of wiping it away and beginning fresh each day.

Have fun.

How does "CHANGE" make you feel?

As many of you know changing environments is something I do quite frequently. Someone asked me recently what is your constant to this I replied 'change' is my constant.

When you think about it we are always changing, transforming, growing, letting go and bringing in. Have you ever asked yourself how does that make you feel.  Does it create worry or fear of uncertainty or is it exciting and adventurous?  Are you walking in this world with a; go with the flow mentality?

When I first began my journey back in 2000 on a backpacking trip through Australia... I didn't know why I was going there only that I needed a change from my way of being in the world.  At the time making loads of money and working long hours coming home exhausted.

That trip was the beginning of an initiation to what I am doing now 17 years later.  Any new journey takes courage, strength, devotion and commitment.  All of these traits harmoniously mixed together allows you to take the next step without knowing where or what will come forth.  And from my experience when you do jump... in to living the life you have only imagined... you will receive many signs along the way that will confirm your path.

Like this one I found on the sidewalk, while walking towards Venice Beach to go share my music of the harp.

Or these ones

.
We are given all the traits we need to live a beautifully fulfilling life.  All we have to do is foster them through dedicated practice and they will not go to waste.

I have discovered that singing your dream, or painting your dream is a way to bring it forth more quickly.  When you get the calling to follow your bliss - time has no bearing any more - it is simply about moving in that direction.  Don't let the fears of uncertainty limit your progression.

Just before I packed all of my belongings in my car and left the room I was renting and steady work as a Massage Therapist in a L.A. spa, I got really sick.  I woke up one morning in a sweat and panic thinking I should postpone my plans of going on the road as a traveling healer.  My thoughts: "I should wait, I should save up more money, more resources, more..."

Let me tell you there are a million excuses of why you shouldn't and sometimes only a few of why you should.  It is up to you to discern what is most important, but I encourage you to not let fear get in your way.  I am reminded of a great expression that has lingered with me over the years.  It was from a workshop about being an urban pilgrim, and it goes like this....

"Feel the fear... and do it anyway."

I am a living example of the pilgrim who has taken the leap.  May my soulful journey through this life be an inspiration to what you are here to do.

As an official 'homeless' being I now fall into the category of being able to bless all those I meet. Many years ago I studied with a wise sage and he shared with me that the role of a homeless person, a monk or a guru is to bless those who come to them.  My needs are few, and so I have less worries, meaning more time to give blessings and support to others!

First week on the road I have met the most amazing people - been given food, and a place to stay each night.

Follow the Soul - It will Transform your Life

As I tuned in for guidance this morning, preparing for a client's phone session this insight came through and it is definitely worth sharing.  Whenever I work with someone I get specific messages for them but this message was a universal message that needed to be shared globally.  Once you read it I encourage you to pass it on.

It began with me visioning the heart. When I began my holistic studies back in 2002, my school offered a visit to a cadaver lab.  It is there I first held a human heart in my hand.  What has most intrigued today about the heart is its action in the body.  Its job is to pump blood, and how it does this is by mechanically opening and closing..., opening and closing..., opening and closing.

Google Images

Have you ever heard the statements: FOLLOW YOUR HEART or LISTEN TO YOUR HEART IT WILL GUIDE YOU.  What came through in my meditation today is that symbolically by following the heart we are placing ourselves in a continuous start-stop action state.

Ever get a feeling that you want to do something or be with somebody, and then when you proceed forward you find yourself stopped in your tracks - the mind comes in and you begin worrying, or analyzing if you are making the right choice. This is the symbolic action of following the heart.

Rest assured there is GREAT HOPE.  It begins with a simple re-centering on who is guiding you. Reconnect with the one who can best move you forward on your right path with ease and grace. As it is this ONE who was with you when you were first born. Instead of following your heart, return to FOLLOWING YOUR SOUL.... FOLLOW YOUR SOUL'S PATH.

The soul is not physical, you cannot touch it, or hold it in your hands, it is eternal, ever flowing, it is movement always aligning with truth, it is Love unfolding in every moment.

How do you get your life from where it is to where it truly wants to be?  It begins with this affirmation: I am aligned with my soul..., I am traveling my souls path.

As you affirm this statement daily, you will receive the clarity you have been looking for.  For some it will come very quickly for others you may need extra assistance.

My path is very clear to me.  I am a healer. I help people find more peace and balance so they can live their life with great purpose.  Many times in my life I have fallen into the pits of confusion only to come out and see what is true.  I can very much relate to where you are and what you are going through.  When you feel at a loss, know that you are in a good place because you will come to the surface and see clearly again.

I am here as a guide on your soul's path.  If you feel drawn to me, then I encourage you to connect with me.  My healing is about bringing forth light, presence, and love, sharing my divine insights for you to use as it best fits into your life.

The insight has now been revealed: Follow your soul, and set your free.

How I Became a Psychic

My journey began long ago in the year 2000.  I had been working in the film industry as a costume assistant to the stars.  I really enjoyed my work.  It was a dynamic and creative field and I was paid royally for what I did.  As a young woman in my mid twenties making $60,000- $70,000 a year was a lot of money.  Needless to say it felt like something was missing in my life.  A purpose which I must have buried in childhood was beginning to emerge.  There was a desire to be of greater service, a yearning to help others in a more meaningful way.

As I began to ponder about my life choices I became fascinated with Australia.  I decided to take the $10,000 I had saved in the bank and go on a 4 month adventure.  I got a visa to travel, a plane ticket and a round trip bus pass across the outback.  Within 6 weeks of that initial thought, I was in the air flying across many oceans to my intended destination.  Little did I know it was to be an opening for my spiritual progression.

Google Images

Shortly after my arrival into Aussie land, I found myself in a small used bookstore where I was drawn to "The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying."  The only other spiritual book I had read previous to that was "Conversations with God," which was an eye opener for the thought that you could actually talk to God and he would talk back.

If you asked me to tell you what this Tibetan book of living and dying was about now, I can't remember much.  One story that has lingered with me over the years was about a person who was dying.  The author made it abundantly clear that the grief and mourning we feel when someone is transitioning creates great suffering for the departing soul, and that death was not something to fear, but something to celebrate.

All in all my trip was eye opener for my spiritual wonderment.  As fun as travel can be for an adventurous spirit as I am, new territory can elicit a fear of the unknown.  When you choose to walk in a shamanic path these fears must be faced, healed and released.  From diving into the process of death though an author's eyes, to camping in the outback in large army like tents where we were advised to check our sleeping bags for scorpions before settling in for a long night sleep, to being caught in an ocean rip tide and learning how to swim out of it, to sky diving over the Gold Coast and finally to taking my first introduction to the healing arts through a weekend massage course - my life had been substantially transformed for the better.  I came home inspired.  My life was moving in a direction that was now being soul driven.  I returned to Toronto, Canada and within the next 6 months changed careers and enrolled in a 2 year massage therapy program.

I had faced the fear of bodily death many times over while in Australia.  I had found the courage to return to school but it was not until I graduated and began my practice that a new fear began to surface.

What had been a challenge for me in this lifetime was stepping into who I am with full power and conviction.  Claiming my gifts in a world where being a psychic or healer was not always looked upon as a legitimate profession was a scary thought when I felt so alone. Getting my Massage License and having a piece of paper that said I was now deemed reputable didn't mean a thing when my psyche had been deeply wounded as a child. The fear of stepping into my power came from having had my boundaries crossed at a very young age.

When the parent-child relationship is interlaced with manipulation one becomes easily convinced to act the way others want you to.  There is no room for autonomy, because if you assert your will you risk getting in trouble, being ostracized or even hurt.  If not strong enough you start to believe the authority figure is right and you lose all sense of what is truly your beliefs and values.  Later in life when the mind develops from the childlike state into the adult mind there can be a feeling of trepidation in one's actions.  The child not feeling safe does not learn to trust and so the adult mind has no framework for trusting it's own self even when the abuser is no longer in the picture.  Sometimes even the simplest of triggers will initiate a memory from the past.  The adult although fully grown, can be thrown back into the fear state of the 5 year old mind again, even though there is no imminent danger lurking or tangible fear.

Now there are always 2 sides to every situation - the negative and the positive.  So what is the positive of having had my boundaries crossed.  It taught me how to come out of my body.  What I mean by this is when I was less identified with actually being in my body then I could venture into the spiritual realm, into God consciousness.  From my experience the ability to relate and communicate with someone on a deep level is found when there is a common ground experience, for example when you have, "walked in a similar path."  God does not have a body and so to understand God as light - I was given the experience to become the light, the word, the inspiration, the wisdom.

This is how my relationship with God/ The Great Creator was initiated.  And thank God for my spiritual strength because when I would find myself feeling less than, as would surface every so often, I was always reminded that inside of me there is a flame of light that continues to shine through.  It is that light that led me to realizing my psychic abilities.

The next part of my becoming a "Psychic" was realizing that I was an empath.  Once you learn how to step out of your body, you learn how to empath.  When you are self-absorbed you cannot feel outside yourself.  My strong desire to help people, propelled me to understand 'empathing.'  This is not something I learned in a book, although you can read about the topic, yet you won't fully understand it... until you experience it.  An empath can sense other people's feelings without having to ask.

You can always check in with the person to see if it is truly how they are feeling but sometimes people don't even know how they are feeling.  The other thing you can do is when you notice that you are in one particular mood, and you have a sudden change in feeling, as yourself (for example) "Is there any reason why I would feel sad at this moment?" If there is no reason, than you are empathing someone else and it doesn't have to be someone in the room with you, it could be someone far away.

Some people become very disturbed by this process, and at times I admit, I still struggle with it myself.  Over the years it has become clearer and when I get strong feelings I will often see a picture of the person in my mind of hear their name.

It is a merging of energies and so the challenge is to remember to disentangle & to clear yourself.  We all learned how to keep our physical bodies clean, brush our teeth, wash our hair but what about our energy?  Well the same is true... you have to keep it clear to stay on track.  Empathing is a gift that all people can awaken if you so choose.  When you start questioning your life purpose this aspect usually opens.  This is how I tapped into becoming a psychic.  From the point where I first expressed to God: "it is my desire to be of service," my life was now following a course of events that could not be changed.  So I say this with a smile... "be careful what you ask for because you are very likely going to get it!!"

The story of how I actually got to sitting in an office working as a psychic is actually quite funny.  I had just gone through an incredibly emotional upheaval of memories from my past with a shaman in Santa Fe, New Mexico.  It was such a rough ride I left shortly after, moving to new scenery soothed my soul.  I was on a road trip destined for California where I had previously lived for many years.  I thought I would take a 2 night healing sojourn in Sedona, AZ.  Two nights turned into 2 years.  I fell in love with the land and I was hooked.

I needed work and so began looking for prospective jobs.  I saw a posting at the Center for The New Age, that read: Psychic Needed.  I thought well I am no psychic but that sounds up my alley as I had been a healer for over 11 years.  I told my roommate I was going for an interview the next day and he asked me what kind of psychic readings I did.  I told him I wasn't a psychic.  He responded back: "Well if you want the job you better start acting like one!"  Good wisdom I thought coming from a self-assured young man 20 years younger than I.

The next day I put on some fun jewelry, a gypsy skirt and headed down to the interview.  It was not much of an interview, she showed me the room, quoted me the rental price and said it's yours if you want it.  Wow I thought my own office.  She gave me the option to work off my rent without having to put anything down.  I went home slept on it and the next day took the office.

A bit of paint and some of my art decor and it was ready... but was I?  All I knew about being a psychic was that they told you your future and I didn't know if I could do that.  So I didn't do what I had heard or read about, I did... what I felt.  People came, and they just kept coming day after day from all over the country and the world.  The more people came to see me... the more I came to see.  I could see their wounds, their stories, their trepidations and their ASPIRATIONS.  Without telling them what to do, I just started asking them questions.  These heart felt questions helped them come to feel their own feelings more clearly.  I called myself: "The Empowerment Psychic" because I believed mostly in empowering people that they could do - as I had done - find their truth and stand in it.

I thought I wasn't a psychic but I discovered I was one all along. Living in Sedona and being surrounded by so many other psychics had shown me that I had found others like me.  I wasn't alone in the world.  The bigger reflection for me came when I left Sedona and returned to Los Angeles, California, my birth place.  Now living in the chaos of traffic, noise, pollution and people rushing to get everywhere I could see even more.  I had to be even more diligent about staying clear in myself and not getting swallowed up into this pool of busyness.  The ocean was my saving grace.

I can best describe my path as a psychic and healer as this: Most days are really easy and fun and fewer and fewer days hurt like hell and challenge me to tears.  So the progression of doing one's work definitely pays off.  To truly walk the path of healer one must continually be looking at oneself and clearing one's wounds, so that we can bask in the glory of this exceptionally beautiful life.

One thing I know for sure is that when I have a session with a client I am crystal clear.  I know this in comparison to when I first begun back in 2004.  In the beginning of my career as a healer offering massage I gave away my energy and therefore the fields became mixed.  Now I work with 4 Arch Angels.  With them by my side, I can channel the highest form of wisdom for what my clients most need.  Years of meditation, lots of time spent in nature & small town living has shaped who I am today.

I know that my energy field is pure and I have heard this from many people: I an incredible lightness, a loving heart, a gentle soul and a keen sense of how to create magical manifestations by being aware of the wonderful symbols & messages that are right in front of me.  Every one can master their intuitive gifts simply by being present with themselves.

It is my calling to guide people where they are, with whatever is showing up in their life.  For some people they need regular care for an extended period of time, for others a monthly check in is all that is required, to keep their head up and their focus strong. In any case whenever you need a soul re-alignment, a chakra/body balancing or a grounded reality wake-up call, you are welcome to reach out by phone or email.

Sign of Christ comes through the Sun

I woke up this morning and went outside to be with the sun. As I was doing my daily ritual; prayers of gratitude & physical exercises, I noticed this image.

A perfect shape of the sign of Christ or Christianity as depicted by the symbol of the fish, reflected right in front of me on the concrete. The lines were the openings between the fence boards.

Why this is all so interesting to me is that the woman I am staying with Ayrin Fante, asked me to help grow her business. Each morning we sit and discuss the plan of action for the day. By taking 20-30 minutes to center and focus with a prayer and intention setting, we have seen how the tasks at hand are flowing so much smoother and faster.
---------------

I wrote a post on the Intuitive Observer site the other day about How to Live in Balance as a Self-Employed Entrepreneur. (www.theintuitiveobserver.com/achieving-a-balanced-life-as-an-entrepreneur) One of the points that I mentioned, is that if you follow a daily spiritual practice, the time you actually need to spend 'working' is lessened to a quarter of what we used to do. Remember when people had to work 8 hours a day? Well you can get that down to 2 hours a day if you commit to a spiritual life of balance.

I would just like to add to this statement that unfortunately many people have gone in the opposite direction and are now working 10-16 hours a day. I know about this because I used to do it. The reason they are doing this is that they are unconsciously or consciously coming from fear and worry. If you are conscious that you are being pulled into repeating patterns of worry, then you are moving in the right direction to getting your life and your sanity back...! Join the "2 to 3 Hours a day of work Club" and enjoy the good life.

Back to the miracle image apparition -Two days ago I wrote this message on our fridge white board: "I BELIEVE IN MIRACLES."

There is great power in intention setting. The image above shows a rain shower of financial abundance, love and joy falling from the sky.... and it is happening.

For 12 years Ayrin has sustained her business at the same level every month through word of mouth. She has been quite happy with that while enjoying her marriage to the love of her life and raising her now 12 year old son. Last year at this time her husband Dan passed away and this took a real toll as he was always supporting her and encouraging her to grow her business.

Dan was an accomplished author and what I have come to know about him is that he was and still is an incredibly spiritual man; having a strong relationship with God grounded in his Catholic Faith. Now that he is in spirit form, he is still sending her the message that it is time to expand what she does through the image of the fish.

The fish symbol appearing on her outdoor balcony is symbolic of her and her husband's faith and also is representative of the story of Christ feeding the hungry people with the fish of plenty. Jesus believed God would help him and God did by taking few and through miracle turning it into thousands to be fed.

It is such a reminder that we too must pass over our fears and worries when there is only little that we see, and trust that the resources will come just as the story of Christ. All is possible when you place God in the drivers seat of your life. Pray for guidance and let the miracles unfold.

It is always a joy for me to see how our loved ones who have transformed out of the body continue to drop little hints and visual messages to help us along our destined path. It is definitely time for Ayrin's business SACRED SCENTS to increase its visibility in the world, exposing more people to the power of natural healing. There are too many people still suffering from mental and physical illness that could easily be remedied by essential oil blends.

Well here is to another story of how the power of Intention and deep prayer helps guide our path and keep us connected to those who have gone on to spirit form. We are all going there one day and in fact when you break us down into tiny rapidly moving molecules we are in some respect already there. The mind keeps us in illusion that there is a distance but in truth there is no separation, there is only oneness. I know I have felt spirits brush my shoulder and definitely leave me a message even after they so to speak passed on.

Keep smiling and keep your eyes open for the miracles of life!

Inner Peace begins in the Silence of Meditation

In 2009 I did a Vipassana 10 day Silent Retreat Meditation.  (https://www.dhamma.org/en-US/about/vipassana)  When you first arrive they ask that you let go of all other spiritual practices and embrace this one.  I agreed.  They went on to take away any objects of worship, crystals, pen, paper and my car keys.  Then I got a little nervous.  Why? I had to ask myself why is it so hard to let go of all my possessions?

Perhaps a fear of having to totally see oneself naked, meaning no story just pure soul.  I thought this 10 day silent retreat would be fairly easy because I had already done lots of meditation in my life. I found that 10 hours a day of sitting can pose a challenge for even the elite meditators.

The beautiful experience about this particular retreat is that it broke down my mind -- you know the one that is always talking, thinking, analyzing, judging, criticizing.

On the fourth day I had my big breakdown.  In each sitting we were instructed to observe our breath.  In three of the nine daily sittings we were asked to not move a muscle, if an itch happened to move through it with breath.  I have a strong will and so I took these challenges  on with great conviction.

In the mid afternoon of Day 4 I had my first breakdown or shall I say breakthrough. I was sitting so perfectly, cross-legged on the floor, and all of a sudden my left hip area started giving me a sensation that something wasn't right.  I tried to maintain my focus on the breath, feeling and sensing it move through my nostrils as the method was taught.  But the ache pursued.  Again I tried to move my awareness back to the breath, which began a game of thoughts racing from breath to ache - back and forth it went until the pain was so great I felt my left upper leg was surely breaking in half.  I couldn't take it anymore and a tear came pouring down my cheek.  My mind had crossed a threshold and as the tear was released the perceived pain lifted.  It was all an illusion.  Pain was only real when I gave it attention.  I moved my body slowly and all was released.

Meditation does not just break you down, it frees you.  By the end of the 10th day and completion of the course, I found myself being the last one to leave the meditation hall.  I had found so much inner peace, I didn't want to leave that space.  I knew that going back into the world was going to be different and it was.  I was in a bubble of bliss for 2 months, and 'worry' was not even part of my vocabulary.  I am so grateful that I had the courage and the time to do this retreat for myself because it changed my life in so many miraculous ways.

Years later I am still meditating, not with quite the same intensity as that retreat, but still seeing the effects each time I go into the silence.  I am also quite aware at how life can come in and pull you away to other activities.  Once you ground yourself into a good practice it is always there for you - you will always find your way back home to OM.

Being in the big city of Los Angeles with lots of commotion and traffic it is an even greater test for me.  I have spent many years in small towns and there is definitely a quieter feel when you live close to nature that is less populated.

That is why this past Sunday I decided I needed to be bathed in silence and so I shut off my phone and internet for 40 hours.  When I do this I ceremonially place it in a box on the first Sunday of the month at 12:01am and don't turn it back on until sometime on Monday morning.

I always feel amazing after doing this.  Actually the monk at SRF Lake Shrine service this weekend spoke about this.  He said that we are all losing our conscience when we are inundated with external stimulus.  His advice was that when you had to make a decision in life the first step may be to talk to a trusted friend or counselor to get some feedback on your thoughts, than it was so important to go into the silence of oneself to see what comes, ultimately in the end you decide the path to take of your life.  Do you want to make life choices based on what the media or your friends say is right for you or do you want to live your life based on your own inner truth that only you really know.

Meditation works....I have seen and experienced the benefits so many times.  I highly encourage everyone to start a practice that works for you.

lots of love,

Sedonah Sunn

p.s. Here is a funny story.  I was talking with a friend the other day and I was telling her that I had been worrying about money and that I had realized it was not really about money it was the act of WORRYING that had taken over my life.

So she shared a story from her friend who said she knew that fear, worry, doubt would always be a part of her life yet she decided that she didn't want them in the driver's seat of her life so she let them sit in the back seat of her car.

I thought about this vignette and while sitting in my car the other day in a very stern voice I looked in the back seat of my car and said, "OK fear, worry and doubt - GET OUT of my car!"  And they left.

ULTIMATE FREEDOM: Meditation Leads to the End of the Death-Rebirth Cycle

The other day I sat in meditation for a long time.  My morning rituals have been 45 minutes of yoga & pranayama followed by a very short 3-5 minute meditation.  I see now how much more you can receive when you sit for a longer time in the silence... like 20 - 30 minutes.

For some time now during my meditations I am transported into this visual experience where I see myself walking on a beach with my Guru.  He is a man clothed in a deep orange monk's robe.  It is the most peaceful experience and without words he invites me to walk with him.  I am so comforted by his presence and we walk and walk until my mind strays to some current life event and I am no longer on the beach with him.

---------------

In my day to day worldly life, I have committed to living moment to moment on as a spiritual pilgrimage.  Which to me simply means that each day is an opportunity to grow closer to God.  God, being the wonderful being that he is, has given us the gift of free will and so we can choose to walk daily with him or we can attempt to take control of our own lives.... and you know how that goes; we suffer the consequences of wrong actions and end up in a continuous repeating pattern.

I will preface that even though I have made the conscious choice to walk the spiritual path moving towards self-realization, every so often I stumble.  It became apparent to me the other day that although I have great courage to face anything, I was still being pulled into this incessant trap of worrying about money... which is quite ridiculous, because at the very moment I have everything I need -- food, shelter, good company, friends and renewed family connections.

I discovered through my meditations and through the transmissions my guru sends to me when I am in a state of peace, that worry is a form of 'drama.'  And drama pulls us away from God.

A few years back I began looking into the Buddhist faith as well as Hindi culture.  In both religions there is a discussion around karma and rebirth.  It seems to be that if we don't learn our lessons we must come back after death again and again to overcome these trials.  What interested me the most about what I was beginning to understand was that the dramas of life are actually the cause of the death-rebirth cycle or the repeating patterns.

During my lengthy meditation the other day as I walked with my guru on the beach I was given a birds eye view of seeing the scene from a much higher level.  I could see the two of us walking as well as witnessing a variety of colors and scenes flashing like a movie in the nearby ocean.  It was so beautiful it looked like the dancing northern lights.  I also had the view of being inside my body standing next to my guru.  Out of the corner of my eye I could see a glimpse of the flashing lights, yet I was not lured in by them, I kept my gaze wholeheartedly connected to my guru.

At the end of our walk he commended me for my devoted focus.  He went on to explain that the flashing scenes in the ocean were of all my life actions.  The whole experience appeared to be a foreshadowing of the actual death or out-of-body experience that comes when we finally leave our human bodies.  He shared with me that what ends the death-rebirth cycle is when you can stand beside God or your Guru and keep your gaze solely and loyally on the Divine.  It only takes one moment to glance at a passing past-life scene and you are immediately pulled back into the wheel of repeating patterns, back into the world, to live and suffer all over again.

He shared with me that the purpose of meditation while you are still in body is actually a training for your eventual death. I never really understood why I meditated I just knew that when I did, I felt good during and after.  Now that I know meditation is a training for our departure, I am much more interested in this process of human evolution.

How often have you been meditating and the phone rings and you are tempted to answer it, or you get a thought about an email you want to send or just even the smallest thing like an itch overwhelms you and you are torn out from your inner peace.

The ability to be still in the mind does not just happen in meditation - a master works on this in all aspects of his/her life.  To not be pulled into the dramas of gossiping about others or slip into self-deprecating thoughts of doom is a huge victory.

I have a friend who sometimes shares things with me about his life.  Often times he will preface his story by saying he has not told anyone else what he is about to share with me.   I suppose because it feels so big and there is fear that most people would judge him.  I didn't realize I was doing this but he said to me my responses are always without reaction and carry no expression of shock.  When you can be a witness for another staying neutral in your own thoughts this is another form of not going into drama - and not entering the wheel of death-rebirth.

I reflected that my recent writings talk alot about death and to some that may sound morbid or depressing - to me it is wonderful.  As I continue to master the practice of meditation it is actually freeing me up to living more fully in this life without attachment to emotional chaos or worry which can be incredibly heavy and debilitating.

On that thought I am going to go meditate now.  And since I am writing this on Saturday evening, November 5th I am actually taking Sunday (the next 30 hours) off of technology - keeping with the idea that on the 1st Sunday of the month I am encouraging people to shut off their phone, internet and TV and do something else like go outside and enjoy nature.

Good night.
